Vocational Education

What is Vocational Education?
An alternative educational route available at all levels from Entry Level (Life Skills) to Level 8 (Doctorate). Initially, Walton Girls’ will focus at Level 2 which is the equivalent of 4 GCSE's grade A*-D. Students will study a course closely linked to an industry sector, such as Health and Social Care or Travel and Tourism. Students will study six units over two years which will include a work experience placement.

How will these courses help my daughter?
Moving away from the traditional GCSE approach will provide opportunities, for those students who take this option, to follow a course which is portfolio based and includes a practical element.

Students will have experience of a specific sector in industry; detailed knowledge of what the sector is and how it operates; skills to work within the sector as well as making use of local case studies and linking theory with real work situations.

All courses are nationally recognised and written in line with industrial qualifications enabling students to transfer skills into an industrial placement or progress into further and higher education.
